Picture

What does success look like?

"If this was solved six months from now, what changes?"

Use their words, not yours. Tie the solution to something they already said they want.

Stage 4

Past

What have they already tried?

Tone: Warm, no judgment

"What did not work about it?"

They stop feeling sold to and start feeling understood. This is the stage almost everyone skips.

Stage 5

Pivot

What is really holding them back?

Tone: Calm, curious

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how confident are you?"

If the answer is under 8, ask: "What would it take to get you to an 8?" That tells you exactly what to address.

Stage 6

Promise

What is the clear next step?

Tone: Certain, steady

"Based on what you told me, here is the next step..."

"I will follow up with you" is not a next step. Set a day and a time before you hang up. Every single time.
